Your EV Deserves Better | EV Charger Safety
An EV charger which isn’t certified or improperly installed can lead to an electrical fire that can harm your car, home, and family. Here are three things to keep in mind when planning an EV charger installation in Ontario:
1) You must file a permit with ESA before starting the installation. Whoever does the installation must file the permit.
2) If you hire someone to do electrical work in your home, by law, it must be a Licensed Electrical Contractor (LEC) with an ESA license number
3) Check your EV charger for a certification mark; the system must carry the official mark—or label—of a recognized Canadian certification or evaluation agency.
