Trump failed ‘I told you so’, so what now? #ukraine #russia

Many people in Ukraine, where I live, had — and still have — zero trust in Trump. His administration repeatedly demonstrated a lack of understanding of the region, the war, and especially Putin, all the while parroting Kremlin talking points.

So what now?

His so-called peace plans — first claiming he could end the war in 24 hours, then promising results in 60 days, then 100 — have all failed to materialize.

Putin’s Victory Day ceasefire is widely viewed here as a hollow gesture — more of a PR move than a genuine step toward peace. Critics argue it’s being used to regroup Russian forces, lacks any real humanitarian intent, and ultimately changes nothing on the ground. Without credibility or meaningful follow-through, it amounts to little more than a strategic pause.

Russia may now have its own doubts about the U.S., but for many Ukrainians, placing trust in a future Trump administration — on any issue — seems deeply unwise. And while we wait, thousands continue to be injured or killed, including women and children.

The question remains: will Ukraine still receive the support it desperately needs?
