George Whitfield's Extraordinary Life and Career

George Whitfield sits down with friend John Peacock to discuss his life and decades-long career in baseball. Bethany Bradsher recently published a book about George, lovingly known to many as Coach. This book will be the backdrop of the conversation and will help you get to know Coach as not only a legend in the dugout, but also as a leader, mentor, and friend.

Born in New York City and raised in Kinston, George’s love for baseball and Eastern North Carolina developed at a young age. George’s career highlights span seven decades and include nine state baseball championships and numerous state and national honors.

John Peacock was born and raised in Goldsboro, NC where he graduated from Goldsboro High School. He later attended and graduated from Campbell College and went on to have a career serving Chambers of Commerce in North and South Carolina. He currently lives in Goldsboro with his wife, Janet King Peacock. They share three daughters and two granddaughters. John and George have known each other for 60 years.
