The Birth of the Vacuum Cleaner A New Era in Household Cleaning

On August 30, 1901, Hubert Cecil Booth, an English engineer, unveiled the first vacuum cleaner prototype—a machine that sucked up dust instead of beating or brushing it off. This invention marked the beginning of modern home cleaning tools.

At the time, cleaning meant beating carpets or scrubbing floors. Booth's design was massive, requiring a horse-drawn cart and long hoses that extended into homes through the windows!

His idea revolutionized the concept of vacuuming and paved the way for today’s electric household appliances, such as robot vacuums and smart cleaning systems.
