Anson Thomas is a retired Customs Officer and a former Hockey player. During his career he has represented Bombay and Indian Customs for many times. His mission is to rescue women and children from the underbelly of Mumbai’s red light area; and he used sports as a way to venture into this. He gave up his service in customs to serve his calling. Anson has rescued over 800 women and children from the red light areas of India and he has rehabilitated many kids and today they are in the main streams of society. He was awarded the CNN & Reliance Industries, Real Hero's award for Women Empowerment in the year 2009. He made a statement when he received the award that his vision and his mission is to see the Red light area into green light area.
