These budget AKG mics have really surprised me with how good they sound for the price. This is a very affordable drum mic pack, but it’s well put together, feels solid, and is capable of getting some really usable drum tones both in the studio and for live use.

In this video I go through the full kit, talk about the build quality, how they sound on a real drum recording, and whether I think this set is actually worth buying if you’re putting together a drum mic setup on a budget.

Everything in this demo is recorded in my studio using the full Session 1 mic pack, with just light EQ and compression so you can hear what these mics really sound like.

Everything’s recorded straight into a Behringer Uphoria UMC1820 interface with just a bit of light EQ and compression.
