✈️ I typically flight over 100K miles/yr & am almost always in biz & first class with free (or cheap) upgrades. These are some of the things I do before my flights that help me save thousands of dollars and still fly up front!

1️⃣Days before flight: 7-30+:
•Set a price alert on GoogleFlights AFTER I book it. This saves me hundreds of dollars per year. If the flight I’m on becomes cheaper, I’ll cancel it for an airline credit, then immediately rebook it at the lower price. I’ll bank the credit & pay for a new ticket, but this only works because I typically fly the same 1-2 airlines

2️⃣Days before flight: 7-10 days

•Check the weather & proactively change routes/timing. If the rates are the same, I’ll proactively change any layovers to avoid weather delays

3️⃣ Days before flight: 1-4 days

•Check for last award flights. If you find one, you can cancel your cash economy (or award economy ticket) & book the biz/first class ticket. The airlines typically drop the number of award miles needed right before the flight. I’m working on something that’ll help you find which flights are likely to require the least amount of miles to do this!

4️⃣Days before flight: 1-3 days

•Seat selection! If I don’t have the seat I want, I’ll set alerts in ExpertFlyer. I’m looking for the best location in Main Cabin Extra, but also free Premium Economy seats if I’m flying a domestic widebody plane. I’m also looking for UPGRADES! ⬇️

•Keep an eye out for this sleeper deal! Airlines such as American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, and others will offer you an upgrade from main cabin to business/first class on paid tickets. This is usually the best way to get a cash upgrade!👇What are your top pre-flight tips?👇
