When Mommie Dearest was released in 1978, it became a massive hit. The book spent 42 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list and was subsequently adapted into the 1981 cult classic film of the same name. The book depicted the abusive upbringing that Christina claimed she faced at the hands of her mother and changed the way that audiences viewed the Hollywood legend. Though Christina’s story was called into question by her two youngest adopted siblings, her closest brother, Christopher, corroborated it.
