Canon RF 100-500 MEGAZOOM | MUST-HAVE Lens or Waste of Money?

500mm, small, light, and super flexible, sounds amazing, but can the new Canon RF 100-500 mm L IS USM deliver in the field? What about being wide-open at F7.1, is that gonna be a problem? For years I have been looking for a smaller bird photography lens that can compliment my F4 600mm prime lens. Will this finally be the lens that fits that role by delivering great image quality and the flexibility I need?
