Quick Attack/Dazzling Gleam Tapu Koko Duo, Windy Weather, SB Mega Gengar Only

Another 2023 edition of a completed challenge in the past.

No, the Ghost-type SB, again. It's so unfortunate that we stop getting Gamepress version of raid infographic (by u/tforge13) for a while. That was what inspired this challenge at the first place.

This time, the Duo Raid is done in the exact same setting as 2022 version, however. In which Tapu Koko is defeated by Mega Gengar only as a Duo Raid without the aid of weather boost, with Tapu Koko using Quick Attack/Dazzling Gleam and Mega Gengar using Lick/Shadow Ball.

Since the setting is completely the same as last year, the main difference for this challenge is the difference in execution. There are a lot extremely difficult raid challenges forcing strats upgrade as well as dodge optimization since Tapu Koko Duo raid last year. This is a good time to see how far the improvement has been achieved since last year.

Before going to that part, it is also noteworthy that there are some new members to this game/buff of existing Pokemon that counter Tapu Koko well introduced in last year. Nihilego, Mega Swampert, Shadow Mamoswine (now with High Horsepower), Shadow Ursaluna, Shadow Golurk are all able to defeat Tapu Koko as Duo Raid without relying on weatherboost.

"Unfortunately, the drawback of choosing a two-bar move is the boss will fire much more Charged move as usual, which increase the risk of dodge desync and also increase the time cost of dodging. Which makes this raid much harder than it was shown in simulation softwares. Eventually after 2-hours(not counting the time in raid lobby) of attempts distributed in few days, after 35 failed attempts, this raid challenge has finally been accomplished."

More dodges definitely makes it harder to perform as perfect as Pokebattler sim, but part of these were able to be overcome with more practice. Apart from that, early leaving for relobby to avoid wasted energy was also found to be beneficial. Overall, the raid is done with 6 seconds faster than original, even with a lot desync hits and really conservative dodges.

Q: How many attempts until this winning run?

A: This is the 2nd attempt of the Duo Raid Challenge. And that's why I downgraded my difficulty rating of this challenge. This challenge definitely feels much easier than how it was and it seems to be no longer to be able to keep up to the current standard.
