One of the hardest things for expats moving to Denmark is finding friends. This video is going to share our tips on how to make friends in Denmark based on our experience of moving to Copenhagen.
We start with tips on socializing in Denmark:
- You need to be outgoing.
- Danes tend to keep tighter friend groups are not unfriendly
- At least initially, expect to have your friends come more from other expats. - - Places like bars are not the best places to meet other people.
- Danes have highly structured social calendars and weekends are planned in advance it's not unusual for a Dane to say they are booked for several weeks.

* Language Exchange - More informal and usually in a social setting, but a good way to connect with new people

and hold various events to socialize and network as an expat community in Denmark
* Professional Organizations - Denmark is a small country that places a high value on community, so professional organizations are very popular.
People may be business rivals but they also like to connect socially - build professional networks, and often a competitor may become a colleague as Danes job-hop
* Social Media Connections - Use your existing social media network to see if anyone you know has a friend in Denmark that you can be connected with. Even just having someone to help guide you in your early days can be valuable. Expats are a community - we tend to help out other expats because it's a unique experience we all share!
* Online expat groups - Similarly, find Facebook or meetup groups that cater to expats
* Join sports clubs or volunteer groups - Danes also love sports clubs and organizations - with a cultural affinity for community it is a natural fit.
