Sunny Spring Saturday in the Hebrides. There's just one thing missing...
25th April 2021. As folk in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, prepare to welcome back visitors, we take a brief look around a small patch of North Uist and the island of Berneray.
For up-to-date information about when you can travel and what to expect, please visit https://www.visitouterhebrides.co.uk/.
Coming to the Western Isles deserves to be on the agenda for anyone planning to visit Scotland.
We start on Friday night with an evening on Vallay Sands, North Uist.
On Saturday we head over to the beach at Hosta to admire the sand dunes and the brilliant turquoise sea.
In the afternoon we pay a visit to John Macaulay in Sollas to enjoy the lambs that are frolicking in the afternoon sun. One poorly mother has a dead teat and she can't feed one of her babies, so she is in a hospital pen awaiting medical treatment together with her twins. Another lamb was rejected by its mother and is being hand-reared, with the dogs providing all the affection the little fellow needs.
After that we take the road to Berneray, passing the iconic Co-Op in Sollas, the red phone box on the way to Clachan Sands, then we come across a herd of Red Deer who are busy getting their noses in.
We continue to Seal Point in Berneray where, as always, a few seals were basking in the early evening sun.
Onwards to West Beach in Berneray to catch the sunset.
Hopefully this will offer you an incentive to Visit the Outer Hebrides.
