Exploring Tunisia | Tabarka!!

This week I visit Tabarka with the Dream team rondonee (hiking) group.

It was a long drive of over 2.5 hours but the group made it enjoyable with their singing and dancing!

We arrived at Tabarka and walked along the sea shore enjoying the clear water and the Needles (Les Aiguilles), the tall rocks that stick out of the sea for over 20 meters. Out in the distance, on top the hills, we can see the Fort Genoese.

We then had lunch and then hopped the bus to go a beach where we swam and had a few boats rides. Always fun and of course the Dream Team sang for most for most of the trip!

More about Tabarka:

Tabarka (also called Tbarga by locals) is a coastal town located in north-western Tunisia, close to the border with Algeria. It has been famous for its coral fishing, the Coralis Festival of underwater photography and the annual jazz festival. Tabarka's history is a colorful mosaic of Phoenician, Roman, Arabic and Turkish civilizations. The town is dominated by an offshore rock on which is built a Genoese castle. Nationalist leader Habib Bourguiba, later to become president of post-independence Tunisia, was exiled here by the French colonial authorities in 1952.
