Inselrundfahrt auf PITCAIRN Island 2019 mit der MS ALBATROS / Cruising Adamstown /Pitcairn in 2019

Mit der M/S Albatros war ich im Januar 2019 in Adamstown / Pitcairn, wir lagen vor der Insel vor Anker und fast alle der 39 Bewohner der Insel kam zu uns an Bord mit ihren eigenen Booten, weil der winzige Hafen von Adamstown nur bei perfektem Wetter mit normalen Schiffs-Tendern angesteuert werden kann. Auf den flachen Booten der Einheimischen am Boden sitzend wäre die einzige Möglichkeit gewesen für uns an Land zu gehen, das wollte sich niemand antun bei dem rauhen Wetter. Und so gab es diverse Souvenirstände an Deck und einen AV-Vortrag über die Insel im Theater. Die Insulaner brachten Bananen und andere Früchte an Bord, um sie gegen WC-Papier und andere "europäische Luxusgüter" zu tauschen und sie baten das Schiff etliche Postsäcke nach Neuseeland mitzunehmen.
Als Abschluss unseres Aufenthaltes gab es noch eine "Inselrundfahrt" rund um Pitcairn.

I came to Adamstown / Pitcairn Island in January 2019 onboard the german cruiseship M/S Albatros, one of the few cruiseships that has Pitcairn on its schedule on a regular basis. Unfortunately the tiny port of Adamstown is too small and dangerous to go to for ordinary cruise-tenders, so our only chance to go ashore would have been sitting on the floor in the local boats, but the weather was obviously too rough and so the majority of the 39 people living in Pitcairn came onboard of our ship, they showed us some great photos in the theatre and set up a row of souvenir-stands out on deck. They changed local bananas and other fruits against toilet-paper and other "luxury" goods that are hard to find in this part of the world and they also asked us to bring several boxes with mail from the island and from other ships to New Zealand. At the end of the day our ship made a cruise around the island before we cruised onwards.
