Ever wonder how does tallest Bridge in Malaysia, Rawang Bypass Bridge looks like from the top? Rawang Bypass connects Rawang to Serendah.
You can park by the side of the road. There is a indian temple on your left. This is also were the well known Bukit Kuari Mtb trail is located.
Difficulty level- Moderate - Difficult
It's suppose to be easy due to its short distance of 5.5km and less than 200 meters of elevation. But due to its technical difficulty, it can be quite nerve wrecking for some.
We started off the hike near Bukit Kuari MTB Trail. The coordinates are stated above. Its located at Rawang Perdana. You Descending down towards the Highway, in order to get to the viewpoint you have to find a way to cross the highway opposite.
You can either go thru a bat infested Drain culvert to get to other side or you can walk further and go under the Rawang Bypass Bridge.
The viewpoint is actually on top a embankment(I hope I said it right) or sidewall, besides the highway, technical difficulty includes walking on a drain. Some parts are shaded , that makes a perfect environment for moss to grow. making it more slippery and dangerous. ( do check out the videos for a clearer understanding of the dangers involved)
Not much of a Sunrise spot as you will be facing the west. Sunset would be great though, but I wouldn't advice descending in the dark.
There looks to be a safer way to ascend or descend but will need a lot of chopping. I Didn't bring parang anyway.
Coming down was tough and risky. There is some 8mm rope installed which doesn't looks secure. So becarefull when you hold on to one.
if have more time you can actually hike further up along Rawang Bypass towards the electrical pylons and turn back. That should give you slightly more than 7km of distance.
All in all its good fun. But dont be fool by the pictures on9, this is a risky hike and not advisable during rain and certainly not for newbie hikers.
Not sure how long this will last. Highway authorities or JKR might clamped down on it due to more and more hikers going there.
