Don Isaac Abravanel of Portugal (Jews of the Douro River)

Don Isaac Abravanel (1437-1508) was one of the last notable figures of medieval Spanish history. He served six kings as a highly competent financier, diplomat and advisor. Political change and religious intolerance drove him into exile during his mature years, yet he wrote masterful Biblical commentary that would still be studied five hundred years later.

Part of the Jews of the Douro series, connected with Kosher Riverboat Cruises (www.kosherrivercruises.com).
