The Chanukah Rebellion: Did the Jews Really Win?

A more critical look at the Maccabean Rebellion of the 2nd century BCE. After I gave this lecture I received a lot of positive feedback, but one member of the audience said I was "the Grinch who stole Chanukah," kind of an ironically Hellenistic comment. At any rate, this presentation focusses on the historical and especially military background to the rebellion under the Maccabees.
