If you continue along the path, you will see paddy fields on both sides. You will see the farmers are sowing paddy in the land. As I was leaving the paddy field, I witnessed the scene of plowing the land. Urban people like me, don't see much of this scene. So perhaps at one time it seemed that every line of Rabindranath Tagore's "Palli Prakiti" is apparently coming to the fore.
Now come on, don't you know who this Queen Shiromoni is?
Year 1768; the resistance of the Zamindars, Paiks and Adivasis against the British, developed in the north-western region of Midnapore district, the south-western region of Bankura district and the vast jungle-rich areas of the eastern part of Manbhum. These aborigines were hated by the British and were called as Chuar. And this rebellion against the British was called the Chuar rebellion as the participants are aborigines of the said areas.
Rani Shiromani of Karnagarh led the Chuar rebellion in this jungle palace. The main bases of Rani Shiromani were Bahadurpur, Shalbani and Karnagarh. The British government captured some people including Rani Shiromani and captured the Karnagarh and Abasgarh forts. However, in the early 1800s, Rani Shiromani and her Naib Chuni Lal Kha had to be released due to lack of evidence.
Later, in order to establish peace in the Medinipur area, the Collectorate of Medinipur arranged the massive recruitment of Chuars and Paiks into the police service. In 1800 AD, a separate district called 'Jangalmahal' was formed on the initiative of the government with the areas of Medinipur, Bankura, Birbhum, Manbhum etc.
Most notably, the Chuar Rebellion, had inspired the subsequent Peasant and Tribal Rebellions. Even today, the people of Medinipur region remember the courage and struggle of the Chuar rebels with reverence. And so, Queen Shiromani has become a legend.
The river Parang flows by the side of this fort. Now this river has blossomed in the rainy season. Now let's visit the fort of Karnagarh or Rani Shiromoni. The Karnagarh fort you are looking at, consisted of about 100 bighas of land, which was about 4 miles wide. The interior of the fort was divided into two parts, the Andar Mahal for the royal family and the Sadar Mahal for others. Now, of course, there is hardly anything left but memory. Many people must have visited the Mahamaya temple in Karnagarh many times. So I did not go there today.
Now let's take a tour of the tourist center built around this historical place. At the initiative of West Midnapore District Administration, 9 small cottages have been built here. Named after the kings and queens of the Karnagarh royal family, some of these cottages are made of clay and some are made of bamboo, stone or cement. Let's see one by one. Let's walk around this beautiful place once with this gravel road. This road revolves around two big ponds. When I came to this place, it was rainy season, if I come a few more days later, I could see water lilies and lotuses in this pond. Work is now underway to erect barbed wire fences along this road. When you will come, the work will be over by then.

However, the road to this place is not easy at all. As a result, it seems that the administration will have to gain a lot of momentum to build a tourist spot here. It took a long time to visit the broken fort and the resort. So it's time to go back.
