Can We Help You Save 1.927,00 kr. Per Year? - DR License | Student Survival Guide
If you have only now moved in, or if you are in Denmark for some time now already, you will likely hear about DR License. What is that?
DR License is a media license that is paid to support Danish public broadcast companies, so they can share information for free and without commercial interruptions. Most of the amount, 67%, goes directly to Danmarks Radio, (or DR) which is the largest public content creator in Denmark.
The media license is 1,927DKK per year. It has to be paid by every individual, who not only has a TV or a radio but also own a computer or a smartphone.
Not everybody who moves into Denmark is automatically signed up, as they need to make sure, you have a tv, radio or internet connection. So what they do is that they go from door to door and play a sort of a trick, especially on the students.
But what can you do if you found yourself already subscribed?
It is stated in the law, that any person who does not own a TV, Radio, Computer or a phone with an internet connection, is exempt from paying this license. Now, I am not saying you should lie, break the law and unsubscribe from a license that does not give you any value during your first months in Denmark. I won’t. I’ll just leave a link for you to click on.
