Survival Guide to Taxes in Denmark - Everything You Need To Know, Before Getting Paid
Taxes in Denmark can be complicated, without a proper survival guide!
In this video, we dive into all the important things that you need to know as a student. We'll tell you how to set up your tax cards, what is preliminary income, and other tricky things.
Tax cards are a gateway between you and a salary in Denmark. Before your salary is paid out, it needs to be taxed. To make sure that you are paying the right amount of tax, you need to fill out your preliminary income, where you write how much you expect to earn in a year. Your tax card will then hold this information and whenever you switch a job, this information will be carried on with you.
We differentiate between an A-kort and B-kort. A-kort or A-card is your primary tax card, that contains fradrag, the tax-free monthly amount. B-kort or B-card is used for all your other incomes. This is the tax card that you should use for your regular job. If you are receiving SU or other public support, you should have this on A-kort.
