As the UK left European Union many things have changed for them in regards to the ability to live anywhere on the continent.
Back at the time UK citizens could go and live anywhere in the EU as they wished, and the residency process was quite simple and straightforward.

This changed with Brexit, and now Brits are treated like anyone else from anywhere in the world, meaning lengthy and expensive residency process in pretty much any EU country.

Last year many were rushing to set up an EU residency all over before new rules of Brexit finally kick in.

Bulgaria is offering simplified residency for British citizens and their families, so if you're a Brit who's considering EU residency this might be your last option to get it simply. This residency will be good for 5 years, and after that, it can convert into citizenship.

It will last until the end of 2021, and after that Brits will need to apply for a D visa in their home country, and will be able to get temporary residency in Bulgaria that they'll have to renew yearly.
This process is significantly more trouble: it's lengthy with many visits to the immigration office, it's more expensive and time-consuming.
