Kuwait is a country in Western Asia. Situated in the northern edge of Eastern Arabia at the tip of the Arabian Gulf, it shares borders with Iraq and Saudi Arabia. As of 2016, Kuwait has a population of 4.2 million people; 1.3 million are Kuwaitis and 2.9 million are expatriates. Expatriates account for 70% of the population.

Al-Nasheed Al-Watani (Arabic: النشيد الوطني‎‎, an-našid al-waṭanī, meaning "National Anthem"). The Kuwaiti national anthem is by poet Ahmad Meshari Al-Adwani, Ibrahim Al-Soula composed the music and Ahmad Ali arranged the composition. It was first broadcast on 25 February 1978.

Before 1978 Amiri Salute was used. It was composed by Yusuf Adees in 1951.

صرح الحياة بأكرم الأيدي

نحميك يا وطني وشاهدنا
شرع الهدى والحق رائدنا

رب الحمية صادق الوعد

Buurikta Ya Watani ´l-Kuwaita lana
Sakanan Wa ishta Alal Mada Watana
Yafdeeka Hurrun Fi Himaka Bana
Sarhol Hayati Be Akramil Aydi

Nahmeeka Ya Watani Wa Shahiduna
Sharoul Hoda Wal Haqqi Ra`iduna
Wa Amiruna Lil izzi Qa`iduna
Rabbul Hamiyati Sadqu ´l-Wa`adi

Those Arabs were heavenly,

Blessed be my Country a homeland for harmony,
Warded by true sentry giving their soils aptly,
Building high its history, Kuwait,
My country, we're for you my Country,

Led by faith and loyalty,
With its Emir for glory he leads us
Fencing us all fairly, with warm love and verity,
