Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and Suicide

This educational film tells the story of Jenny, suffering with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder [EUPD], as she becomes increasingly suicidal, is detained under the Mental Health Act and makes her way towards eventual recovery.

It features Jenny telling her own story in retrospect, interviews with her mother, a CPN and a staff nurse who makes a difference when Jenny is admitted to an acute inpatient unit.

As you watch, look for the underlying risk factors, how attitudes towards 'personality disorder' and what ultimately proves helpful to Jenny on her pathway to recovery.

It explores issues about EUPD and suicide but, while highlighting how mental health services struggle to provide a service for people diagnosed with this disorder, also demonstrates techniques and interventions that can be therapeutic and helpful.
