My Southwest USA Road Trip

The all-american road trip. It’s the quintessential way to travel the country. Stopping at iconic national parks and quirky roadside destinations along the way. The classic road trip usually encompasses some part of the southwestern United States. This is my 10-day road trip from Arizona to Colorado.

I hit the road in Arizona, heading west on the way to the Grand Canyon. On the way is the small town of Williams Arizona, a short detour that embodies the history of route 66. Just a few minutes outside the center of Williams is Bearizona park, one of those quirky roadside attractions. The Grand Canyon is a straight drive, about an hour north of Williams. I spent 3 days and 4 nights here. I spent my first full day here hiking down to Bright Angel Campground via South Kaibab trail, where I stayed overnight and hiked back up via Bright Angel trail the next day.

After staying 4 nights at the Grand Canyon I made my way back to flagstaff and up through Navajo nation to Page, Arizona. In the morning it was back on the road – heading north to Moab. I spent 1 day exploring Canyonlands and my last two days exploring Arches National Park.
