You're finally at trial.
You sued your doctor for malpractice.
For causing you harm...permanent harm.
Your doctor refuses to accept responsibility for what happened to you.
He says it wasn't his fault. He says you, the patient, caused your own injuries!
You sued him.
He says "I'll see you at trial!"
Two years later, you're finally at trial.
It's going to be at least three weeks before a jury gets to decide.
Lots of witnesses.
Lots of cross examination.
During trial, the opposing attorney keeps trying to object to certain testimony and evidence. In almost every instance, the Judge rules against the defense lawyer and allows the testimony. He also allows the photos and other evidence your lawyer wants the jury to see.
You think this is great.
You think the Judge doesn't like the defense attorney.
You think that since the Judge is repeatedly ruling in your favor, it means he wants you to win. Is that really what it means?
In the movie Princess Bride, one of the key characters says "I don't think it means what you think it means," as they discuss the definition of a common word.
