Michelin Star Chef Andrew Wong's Char Sui Masterclass - South Westminster BIDs Virtual Event Series
Born and brought up in London, Andrew Wong has been immersed in the world of restaurants since childhood. His Michelin starred restaurant A.Wong is situated in Pimlico, 5 minutes walk from London’s bustling Victoria Station.
Andrew’s years of meticulous research has created a cuisine that celebrates the diversity of China’s vast food culture. His dishes are contemporary and artistic interpretations of both traditional dishes and ancient recipes. Using select Chinese and British produce and ingredients, menus are created to celebrate his own pride in China’s gastronomic heritage and the myriad flavours found within this vast country. The cumulation of this is showcased in the restaurant’s menus.
Chef Andrew Wong hosts 3 online cooking masterclasses as part of the South Westminster BIDs Virtual Event Series. The first here, teaches you how to make your own Char Siu - a popular way to flavour and prepare barbecued pork in Cantonese cuisine.
Char Sui Recipe:
1 tsp Salt
5 tbsp Sugar (maybe more)
1 tbsp Soy Sauce
½ tsp Baking Soda
2 tbsp Chu Hau Sauce
2 tsp Cornflour
5 tbsp Water
2 tsp Oil
2 tsp Rose Wine
1 tsp Garlic Powder
½ tsp Red Colouring
1 tsp Star Anise Powder
3 tbsp Honey
1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
250g Pork Neck Steak (for non-pork eaters, 2 Chicken Thighs )
