tWWIItter - Albert Richards' Story: War Artist on D-Day and beyond

tWWIItter is a series of films that imagines how World War Two would have been recorded if the men and women who fought and endured it had possessed 21st century technology.
Captain Albert Richards was a young paratrooper and war artist who jumped into France on D-Day, fought in fierce battles, and then sketched his way through Europe with the advance, returning home on leave to paint striking pictures of combat and its consequences.
A fine soldier and artist, 'Bertie' was born in Liverpool in 1919 and grew up in Wallasey on the other side of the river Mersey.
He attended the Wallasey School of Art and Crafts, and studied at the Royal College of Art before being called up in 1940.
Who knows what he might have achieved in the world of art?
Please note the film contains one short sequence which some people may find upsetting.
Special thanks for the help of the Williamson Art Gallery, Birkenhead; National Museums Liverpool; and Polly Loxton.
tWWIItter was devised by Mark Gorton. Albert Richards’ Story was researched and written by Ged Clarke.
The tWWIItter series is funded by Really Epic Ventures. The Executive Producer is Wayne Scholes.
