Huntly Castle and Huntly Castle Lodge, Aberdeenshire
Possibly built as a hunting lodge and named Sandston or Sandiestone House or locally known as Gordon Castle it was extended in 1769 when Catherine, 3rd Dowager Duchess of Gordon moved in after remarrying.
The house was renamed Huntly Castle Lodge or just Huntly Lodge and in 1832 the back extension was built with an imposing entrance and Elizabeth the 5th dowager duchess lived here until 1865. It may have served as the factors's house until 1924 when it was sold. In WWII it was used as a hospital and later became a hotel and it remains as such (datum 2019).
