Mr M: Marius Roberts delivers the JAC T8 pickup

South Africans are bakkie (pickup) obsessed (they outsell passenger vehicles each month) so its a terrain manufacturers want to play in.

But consumer brand snobbery makes its a very difficult segment to break into, so what chance does a relatively unknown brand like JAC really stand?
I say relatively unknown because up until early 2019, they had only offered light commercial trucks in our market. The introduction of the T6 pickup changed that and the positive response to the model saw they add the T8 to the lineup at the end of 2019 / early 2020.
This is my first interaction with the brand and the T8 certainly delivered some surprises!
