Marius Roberts powers the beast - the Volkswagen V6 Amarok

It’s the pickup (bakkie) that changed all how all bakkies were made, yet it has remained unchanged for just over ten years – I guess that is a statement in itself of what a stellar job they did at their first attempt.
Back when it was first launched, the Amarok and its 'puny' 2.0l engine was the source of many jokes and now look - every serious player in the segment has a 2.0l offering as the workhorse becomes a lifestyle pony!
But VW did deliver something to satisfy the old school bakkie buyer with their 3.0l V6 engine - a gem of an engine which only further showcased the Amarok's car like underpinnings.
Well, they have uprated that V6 and with the next generation due in 2022, this beast of an engine is a fitting swansong.
