Crestone Needle 14,197 Ft. Colorado Class 4 14er Day Hike

Join Erik, Hannah, and I as we climb to the summit of 14er Crestone Needle. This 14er is known for being one of the most beautiful and difficult 14ers to climb in the state. The trail begins at the 4wd South Colony Lakes Trailhead and steady climbs to the treeline at the base of Broken Hand Pass. From here the climb up to the pass involve steep hiking over difficult class 2 and 3 terrain. From the top of the pass it is a short hike to the base of the south face of Crestone Needle. At this point the remaining 1000 vertical feet to summit consists of steep and technical class 3 and 4 climbing through gullys and across narrow ledges. The views from the summit are spectacular! This hike is only recommended for those with lots of experience and I would personally recommend doing numerous other class 3 climbs before attempting this one. Enjoy!
