Is a Hot Tub 110 or 220?

Hot tubs can be both 110v (sometimes listed as 120v) or 220v (sometimes listed as 240v). The difference is in how they get connected to electricity.

110v hot tubs can be plugged into a standard 15 amp wall socket just like any major appliance. That outlet does need to be grounded with a GFCI breaker. But most outdoor wall outlets are indeed 15 amp and GFCI.

You should NOT use an extension cord, but most 110v hot tubs do come with a long cord attached (often 15').

220v hot tubs require an electrician to wire a disconnect box about 6' away from the hot tub. That box then, in turn, connects to your main breaker panel.
