For Penangites, visiting loved ones now just a train ride away after lifting of interstate travel ba

The people of Penang took the opportunity of the lifting of the interstate travel ban to travel down south using the Electric Train Services (ETS) to visit their loved ones today.

This is the first weekend after the interstate travel ban was lifted.

Checks by the New Straits Times at the Butterworth Railway Station here showed about 27 passengers travelling south on the 9.30am train.

The number of passengers is slowly growing by the day.

Factory worker, Noorliza Baba, 33, said she took the opportunity of the weekend to visit her husband in Taiping, Perak after six months of not meeting.

Meanwhile, recently graduated P. Kumar, 25, said he immediately booked an ETS ticket to return to Kuala Lumpur over the weekend after learning about the lifting of the interstate travel ban.
