Number of flood evacuees in Johor increasing

The number of people evacuated to flood relief centres in Johor continued to rise as Tangkak became the latest district in the state to be inundated.

In Tangkak, one relief centre was opened at Sekolah Agama Bandar Tangkak where 17 victims from three families are currently being sheltered.

This brings the total number of evacuees to 1,080 from 271 families compared to 456 victims from 133 families that was recorded at 8am this morning.

Meanwhile, Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar said more than 18,000 tents have been prepared to be used by flood victims in high-risk areas in Johor.

He said preparations are made and updated by the State Disaster Management Committee chaired by State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani.
