Mystic Psychosis and Genuine Mystical Experience
Shri Amir Mourad elaborates on the similarities as well as differences between mystic psychosis and genuine mystical experience. Seeing the difficulty of overcoming dogmatism and misunderstandings about one's own experience, he explains that knowing how to distinguish between the two should be essential for any seeker of truth along the path. He also warns of how it can be tempting in some traditions to glorify what are considered by some saints as "religious" experiences when in truth they may be episodes of mystic psychosis.
"The dividing lines between the two can be blurred even further for that mind which suffers from the ailment of being both a psychotic as well as deeply identified with mysticism" ~ Shri Amir Mourad
