The fish that never stops swimming.tuna, the true ocean traveler

Tuna is a large, fast-swimming fish found in warm seas around the world. Belonging to the mackerel family, it is known for its streamlined body, powerful muscles, and incredible speed—some species can swim up to 75 km/h. Tuna are migratory, traveling long distances across oceans, and they must keep moving constantly to breathe through their gills.

They can vary greatly in size, from the smaller skipjack tuna weighing around 3 kg to the giant Atlantic bluefin tuna that can exceed 600 kg. Tuna flesh is firm and ranges from pink to deep red due to high levels of myoglobin, making it highly prized for food, especially in sushi and sashimi.

Tuna play an important role in marine ecosystems as top predators, feeding on smaller fish, squid, and crustaceans. However, due to overfishing, some species like the bluefin tuna are considered endangered, making sustainable fishing crucial for their survival.
