In this video, I’m testing ZibraGDS, a plugin for Unreal Engine designed to bring massive geometry sequences, Alembic caches, destruction sims, cloth, liquids, and other heavy animated geometry into real-time workflows. If you have ever tried importing a large Alembic cache into Unreal Engine, you probably know the pain: huge file sizes, slow playback, viewport lag, and performance issues inside Sequencer. ZibraGDS aims to solve that by compressing geometry sequences and rendering them more efficiently inside Unreal Engine. This is not a sponsored review. I stumbled upon ZibraGDS by accident, and the team gave me a 30-day trial version to test. So in this video, I’ll walk through what the plugin does, when you should use it, what kind of projects it is useful for, and also where the limitations are. We’ll look at the basic workflow, how ZibraGDS fits into an Unreal Engine pipeline, and why it could be useful for cinematics, virtual production, previs, real-time VFX, game trailers, and heavy simulation playback.
