Learn Frankie's Story | Wild Animal Unique Personality Award 2024

Frankie is an Eastern Sarus crane, a type of bird that that is known to breed in Northeast Cambodia.

As well as being taken from the wild when she was young, Frankie also had her wings clipped which prevent her from ever being able to fly.

Due to being treated like a pet and kept away from her natural environment, she imprinted on humans.

But during a raid in 2010 she was found and rescued.

She now resides safely at the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB), where she has become an ambassador for her species, and teaches the public the dangers of the illegal wildlife trade.
