Baloo, a bear in Romania, has spent 24 years trapped in a tiny cage at a private ski resort. Unlike the carefree Baloo from The Jungle Book, this real-life bear has known nothing but captivity, neglect, and exploitation.

Instead, he lives in a mountainside prison.

Tourists throw bottles at him. Children poke him with sticks. He’s been fed cornflakes, lemonade, and even alcohol.

*Why is Baloo Still in Captivity?*
Romania banned private bear captivity in 2005, yet Baloo remains imprisoned. Despite a court ruling 2021 ordering his release to a Romania bear sanctuary, his owner refused to let him go.

Now, after global outrage and 178,404 petition signatures, the fight for Baloo’s freedom is stronger than ever.
