Sharing a video of yourself dancing to Doja Cat’s “Say So” sounds like all fun and games, but is TikTok as safe as it seems? China-based parent company ByteDance has a long reputation of censorship, and there are other concerns with data collection and privacy that parents and teens should consider before uploading a video. “There are serious things that we need to consider about the app,” Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Fergus Ryan explained.
