Grotto Falls Trail - Last Hike Before Leaving TN - Camping at Walmart - Pigeon Forge Pt 6

On the last day of our week-long stay at the Smokey Mountains we hiked the Grotto Falls Trail. The trail is only about 2 miles long. It’s uphill almost the whole way to the falls, but the trail isn’t too challenging. Half of the fun is the winding one-way road to get to the trail head. Make sure you get there early because the parking lot was almost full when we arrived before 10am.

Before packing up and heading home we made one last stop in the Old Mill District to pick up some vanilla moonshine at The Old Forge Distillery. While we were there, we got lunch at the Pottery House Café and Grill and watched an artisan make pottery in Pigeon River Pottery Shop.

We left camp a little later than planned and hand a long stop for dinner, all that led to us arriving at Walmart in Dry Ridge KY a little after midnight. Our plan was to stop in Florence, but we called ahead and found out the city had banned overnight parking. We finished the drive home the next morning and other than every highway in Ohio being under construction the trip went smoothly.
