DHARMAVARAM SISTERS singing an excerpt (Balakaandam) from Sri Raghuveera Gadyam

On 13 April 2019, being Sree Rama Navami (a great and auspicious day for the worshipers of Lord Rama), Dharmavaram Sisters (Mahathi & Pranati) presented an excerpt (Balakandam) from Raghuveera Gadyam.

Raghuveera Gadyam was authored by Sri Nigamantha Maha Desikan (also referred as Sri Vedanta Desikan), who was an exponent of Sri Visishtaadwaitam.

Swami Sri Vedanta Desikan is one of the most renowned Acharya (Guru) in the Vaishnavism tradition, during his lifespan of 101 years (1268-1369).

Vedanta Desika's Raghuveera Gadyam, which celebrates Lord Rama's valour, was composed when he was residing at the temple town of Thiruvendipuram in Tamil Nadu.

Few weeks back, I received a Whatsapp message from my mentor and guide Sri Chandrasekhar Babu Sir (author of many books on great Indian philosopher UG Krishnamurti and also was host to ‘UG’ for quite a many years in Bangalore) with a video clip from the movie titled ‘Vedanta Desika’ in which Balakandam from the Raghuveera Gadyam was rendered (by Vidwan Abhishek Raghuram) for the film on Sri Nigamantha Maha Desikan.

Also Sri Chandrasekhar Babu Sir has suggested me to make Mahathi & Pranati learn that excerpt (Balakandam) from the great literary work, Raghuveera Gadyam.

Mahathi & Pranati were quite excited after listening to this rendition in ‘Mohana Raga’ and expressed their keen desire to learn it from the video clip shared by Sri Chandrasekhar Babu Sir.

The sister duo made sincere efforts to learn it and faithfully render it as it is in the original version.
