Defining Person-First Language

Although I took disability-related courses in college, I didn't know to use Person-First Language or what it was until I began working full-time. So, here is Monty, the Deputy Director, and Program Manager of ATRC, who has total blindness, explaining people-first language and the impact it has on people with disabilities (PWD).

I expressed an interesting article with matters combining PWD and people of color. The article explains how a professional hub for disability leaders (who have no disability) was completely inaccessible and excludes PWD.

Finding solutions to these types of issues along with communicating with respect is key to break down barriers created by negative attitudes and stereotypes of PWD and people of color.
