You absolutely CAN achieve amazing sounding mixes from tracks recorded on modest home studio gear.

I don't care if you're recording through the cheapest 8-channel interface that Sweetwater sells.

There's a common myth out there that it can't be done without spending an absurd amount of money on fancy mic pres, outboard gear or plugins.

It's not true.

What most people don't understand is that basic interfaces (which is what most of us are recording through) are essentially 100% transparent.

In other words, they have no inherent sound of their own.

What you put in is what you get out.

This is actually a good thing as long as you fully understand how to add some "analog warmth" back in.

...and take control of your high frequencies like a boss.

One source that often needs strict attention are cymbals. When recording in a home studio, cymbals can be hard to get under control if you don't know what to look out for.

This is due to all of the high frequency information they contain.
