Doubt the US judicial system can handle a Hunter Biden inquiry: Matt Canavan

The Justice Department can now set up a special prosecutor into Hunter Biden’s tax dealing and election amid Attorney General William Barr's resignation but Nationals senator Matt Canavan doubts the US judicial system can do it.

“You would seek to have an inquiry to get to the bottom of things but I’m not sure if the court process is really set up to do that,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.

Mr Canavan pointed out the news corporations that ran the story initially got banned off Twitter for it and it seems like the journalists are not doing their jobs, with which Mr Murray agreed.

“You would expect journalists who claim to be independent to always be skeptical of government,” he said.

“The way they were completely silent about a major question of compromise about a major presidential candidate and now President-elect really matters.”
