Hobie Lynx Hull Condition After Two Years On The Kayak Bass Tournament Trails (it held up great!)

I stopped by Strictly Sail & Kayak this weekend with my Hobie Lynx to get it into shape for the upcoming tournament season. It is well know that the trade-off for the phenomenal 47 pound weight of the Lynx is that you have to be a little more careful with it. But if I didn’t have a Lynx, I wouldn’t be on the tournament trail since I car-top my boat, and I can’t think of another kayak on the market that is this light with this high of a level of performance.

So each year I scrape and scrub off all the patches and tape I’d used in the previous year, then when it was all naked I made this video to show that yes, the Lynx is a little more prone to dings than your standard roto-molded kayak, but I have fished on it almost every weekend since I first got it in June 2021, and I am not the most delicate person with my stuff, and I think that only requiring a little patching with epoxy means it held up great!

I’ll have videos up soon showing the new patching and my possibly questionable decision to try protecting the bottom with waterproof Gorilla tape. I’ll also have a video setting up my new fish-finder and using the pre-drilled PowerPole holes to mount my flag/light combo. This makes it really real that the season is almost here, and the excitement just hit me!

A huge thanks to Strictly Sail & Kayak for use of their garage and tools, and expert advice and help! Check them put for all of your kayak and kayak accessory needs!
