India has created and successfully tested its first powerful laser weapon, called the Laser Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) MK-II(A). This system, made by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is placed on a vehicle and can track and destroy drones, according to NDTV.

In tests, this laser weapon was able to shoot down a fixed-wing drone and a group of drones flying together.

DRDO says this successful test puts India alongside countries like the U.S., Russia, and China, which also have advanced laser weapons.

DRDO is now working on an even stronger laser weapon called "Surya." It will have 300 kilowatts of power, a longer range, and will be able to target faster aerial threats.

The laser weapon is seen as an important step for India’s military, especially since drones are becoming more common in modern warfare.

The DEW MK-II(A) was fully developed in India by DRDO.

The successful test shows that India is becoming stronger in defense technology and can develop advanced weapons, as reported by NDTV.
