British Airways have resumed use of their A380's this week (Nov 8th). Now to reintroduce these aircraft back into service and for crew & pilot familiarisation these mighty super jumbos are being used on shorthaul flights from London to both Frankfurt & Madrid throughout November, until they return to their longhaul duties from December. So like many aviation enthusiasts I couldn't resist the chance to get on one.
Boarding at a very grey, foggy Frankfurt our pushback was delayed slightly due to the low visibility procedures. Luckily once pushed back & engines started we had a very short taxi to RWY25C. As you can see, (or not see) in the minimal visibility not much in the way of views during the departure other than the sight of the epic Rolls-Royce Trent 900's doing the work. Listen to the increase in power as we climb through the cloud base. Never ceases to amaze me how quiet & smooth the A380 is, but during the climb there was definitely some roar coming from those engines. Once on our way a steady climb up to 40,000ft. Just about enough time for a glass of champagne and a little look around the First cabin & seat area before we started our descent towards London. Approach to Heathrow from the East, passing some heavy downpours in the distance, over Hounslow & Twickenham Stadium before touching down on runway 27R. We vacated almost directly opposite Terminal 5 C gates. So a very short taxi, onto our stand and we were disembarking in no time.
This was filmed from seat 4A in the First cabin which offers a great view of the engines. However quite a common issue with filming on the A380 is the huge gap between the window panes, making it quite tricky to not get the edge of the window in the shot.

After my flight out to Frankfurt I had a grand tour around the aircraft thanks for the fantastic BA crew. So if you'd like to see more from onboard this A380 and a look around the entire aircraft check out the London to Frankfurt video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU9PD3-Ak2I
