Are You Struggling With Vanity? Here Is Why

Praise Jesus today, brothers and sisters. The big reason why people struggle with vanity is because they care a whole lot about what others think of them. They're always looking through the eyes of others back at themselves. And when you do this, you're going to be very self-aware, you'll be very concerned how people view you. And it will show in your life: you'll wear certain kind of clothes because you care what people think; you'll listen to certain kinds of music because you care what people think about that, the kind of car you drive; you'll be self-conscious about where you live. All of those things you'll be really concerned about because you're viewing yourself and your life through the eyes of other people. And this will lead to vanity.
But if you really desire to be perfect before God and pleasing to God, you will start seeking after how you can be beautiful in the eyes of Jesus Christ, and you will ask Him for the filling of the Holy Spirit. And when you do this, you will be beautiful from the inside out. He will purge you; He will purify you, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit will be in your life. You won't be vain like the world if the Holy Spirit is in you, and if you're seeking the kingdom of God first and what pleases God.
Jesus wants us to be beautiful. He wants us to be pure, but it is about being pure of heart on the inside. God does not view us how the world views us or how the devil wants us to look. So, if you're struggling with vanity, then get your eyes on Jesus Christ and start asking Him how He views you and start being molded to the image He wants you to be, rather than your focus being on what your peers think of you and then trying to mold yourself to what men and women and your peers want you to be. So I hope this helps someone who has struggled with vanity to come out of that lifestyle and into the kingdom of God, I hope that you pray for the Holy Spirit to come into your life, that you can be reborn and that you may put on righteousness, not the false looks of the world, but true purity that comes from God.
So “Lord Jesus, I pray for anyone who wants to come out of the vain world, of just falsehood, just the appearance of being good. I pray for anyone who wants to truly repent of this, that you would give them the ability to repent and to overcome vanity, that they may come into the newness of life with you and that they would see themselves as how you see them, and that they could strive for the fruit of the Holy Spirit, to be pure of heart and to be filled with your love and your righteousness. In your name we pray, Lord Jesus, amen. ”
