U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during remarks in Delhi, calling him “phenomenal” and “a truly wise gentleman.”

Rubio recalled that one of his very first meetings after being sworn in as Secretary of State was with the Quad foreign ministers, where he first met Jaishankar.

He said the Indian minister has done “incredible work” for India and is someone he holds in “tremendous esteem and respect.”

Rubio also thanked India and its leaders for the hospitality extended during his visit.
